The Minister of Electricity and Energy, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has announced plans to expand the provision of free basic electricity to eight million South African households.
Currently, only two million of the ten million qualifying households have access.
Ramokgopa emphasised the need to address delivery challenges and municipal registration issues to effectively expand coverage.
