GAGASI FM ADOPTS UMZILIKAZI SECONDARY SCHOOL AS PART OF GELEZA NE GAGASI 2025

Utrecht, 5 February 2025 – Yesterday, Gagasi FM, The Sound of KZN, proudly visited Umzilikazi Secondary School in Utrecht for the Geleza Ne Gagasi Handover 2025. As part of this impactful Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative, Gagasi FM officially adopted Umzilikazi Secondary School, an institution that has showcased resilience and excellence by achieving an outstanding 100% pass rate for their Class of 2024.
The nomination for the school’s adoption came from Miss Sibisi, a dedicated educator at Umzilikazi Secondary School, who tirelessly submitted her school for the Geleza Ne Gagasi competition. Her persistence and passion paid off as the school was selected, marking a significant milestone for both the institution and its learners.
The handover event was a momentous occasion, hosted by Gagasi FM’s very own Nkule Mbatha as the Master of Ceremonies. The warm welcome address was delivered by the school’s principal, Mr. Zulu, setting the tone for a day of celebration and inspiration. Gagasi FM’s Head of Commercial Hub, Pinky Myeni, also addressed the students, acknowledging their hard work and emphasizing how truly deserving they are of this support.
Amid the excitement, Miss Sibisi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Geleza Ne Gagasi initiative, sharing how vital it was for her to nominate the school. With a touch of humor, she revealed that she had submitted her entry nearly a hundred times, demonstrating her unwavering determination to secure assistance for her students.
In her application, Miss Sibisi highlighted the significant challenges faced by Umzilikazi Secondary School, including reliance on pit toilets and a lack of running water, posing serious health and safety concerns. Despite these obstacles, the school remarkably achieved a 100% National Senior Certificate (NSC) pass rate in 2024—a testament to the dedication and resilience of both learners and educators.
The Geleza Ne Gagasi 2025 CSI campaign aims to support learners and parents as they navigate the financial burdens of a new school year. Since its inception in 2008, the campaign has made a profound impact, transforming lives and fostering educational empowerment. This year, the initiative continues its legacy by providing essential resources to those who need them most.
