Gagasi FM distributes food parcels at Empangeni Library in uMhlathuze

Written by on 7 April, 2023

Today, we drove to Empangeni at Empangeni Library in the City of uMhlathuze, to be a helping hand to some of the families within the city, who were drastically affected by the tragic hail storms that hit the community on Monday. In these challenging times, many of the people from the Mhlathuze residence are struggling to make ends meet. As these horrible storms had a significant impact on the economy, with many families experiencing difficulties, with no ways to put food on the table. This is where the GagasiFM Cares initiative came in today, providing much-needed relief to those affected.

It was a great success, with many individuals and families coming to the Empangeni Library to receive their food parcels. The food parcels contained a range of essential items, including maize meal, rice, cooking oil, and tinned food. These items will go a long way in helping these families put food on the table and alleviate the financial strain they are currently experiencing.

Speaking at the event, we caught up with Head of Communications at the City of uMhlathuze, Bongani Gina.

In our conversation with him, he sends his gratitude and appreciation to the GFM family for laying a helping hand during these trying times.

“GagasiFM has assisted 20 families who have been left with no shelter, we again thank GagasiFM for donating food parcels and blankets, and many other things. May what GagasiFM did for these communities, be done to other communities at large.”

The GagasiFM Cares initiative is an example of the positive impact that can be achieved when individuals and organizations work together to make a difference in the lives of others.

At the end of the day,  the GagasiFM Cares team expressed their commitment to empowering  the community of uMhlathuze, while providing support to those who are most in need. We emphasized the importance of working together with Head of Communications, Bongani Gina to overcome the recent challenges faced by the  people of uMhlathuze, and encouraged individuals that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
