Football agent Mike Makaab says it’s a no brainer to start in form Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma over Itumeleng Khune after the veteran keeper returned from suspension.
Khune was temporarily suspended from Chiefs after the club launched an internal investigation into his conduct after being reported to have arrived in training under the influence of alcohol. On Wednesday Amakhosi announced the return of Khune to the squad ahead of the much anticipated Soweto derby against rivals Orlando Pirates, which sparked speculation about the veteran goalkeeper possibly playing in yet another derby on the weekend.
Bruce Bvuma is having a great season between the sticks for Chiefs keeping six cleansheets in seven appearances for the Soweto giants.
The two Soweto giants go into this clash looking to protect their recent unbeaten runs, Pirates are undefeated in three league matches, with the previous league defeat coming at home to Stellenbosch FC in November last year. However, the Bucaneers will go into the derby at the back of a dissapointing 1-all draw in midweek against bottom side Cape Town Spurs, and coach Jose Riveiro believes Saturday’s clash against their firce rivals will give his side a good platform to bounce back.
Speaking on Extratime on Gagasi FM Makaab believes it’s a no brainer for Chiefs to start Bvuma in the Soweto derby ahead of Khune.
“For me it’s an absolute no brainer, Bruce Bvuma has been one of the outstanding performers for Kaizer Chiefs I think seven cleansheets if I am not mistaken in eight games,” said Makaab.
“He for me has been the difference between Kaizer Chiefs dropping more points than they have, and not. He has been outstanding you look at his leadership qualities, reminds me very much of Itu Khune a big commanding presence in the area, he is always barking instructions at his players.
“His distribution is top class, we all know Khune is probably one of the best distributor of the ball in the world with goalkeepers, but he’s footwork is good enough the way they play suits him. I think Bvuma at the moment is probably the most in form goalkeeper in the country”.
