Richards Bay FC will be desperate for points when they travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to face Chippa United in a DSTV Premiership clash on Wednesday. The Natal Rich Boyz find themselves just three points clear of bottom side Cape Town Spurs with twelve matches to go in the league. Ernst Middendorps men recorded successive victories over AmaZulu FC and TS Galaxy at the start of the year, and find themselves within touching distance of other teams after spending the first half of the season languishing at the bottom of the standings with just one win to show for it.
Apart from the Nedbank Cup win over Polokwane City, Vusumuzi Vilakazi’s men had a poor start to the year losing back-to-back league matches against Sekhukhune United and fellow KZN side Royal AM, which has allowed Spurs to reduce the gap to just three points.
Richard’s Bay will face a Chippa United side that currently sits above them in the log standings, with a seven points gap between the two sides. The Chili Boys will be looking to end a run of four matches without a win, as they started 2024 with 1-all draws against Cape Town City and Stellenbosch FC.
