Durban, South Africa – 20 June 2025 Mzansi, the cat is out of the bag! South Africa’s beloved radio and television personality, Selby “Selbeyonce” Mkhize, is making her much-anticipated return to Gagasi FM, The Sound of KZN. As of June 23, 2025, Selby will be joining the dynamic afternoon drive show, The Gagasi Fast Lane, alongside industry heavyweights Sphectacula and DJ Naves.
A proud daughter of KwaZulu-Natal, Selby’s journey with Gagasi FM is one of authentic growth, passion, and star power. Her story began in 2008 as a voice-over artist. By 2009, she was the go-to gossip columnist on the Weekend Breakfast Show – “Lively and Loud”. Her trajectory continued to soar with stints on the Top 40 in 2010, followed by her electric presence on a Saturday night party show in 2011. In 2012, Selby stepped away from the station—but the spark never left.

Now, over a decade later, she returns home.
“We’re thrilled to welcome back Selbeyonce to our team!” said Alex Mthiyane, Head of Audience Experience at Gagasi FM. “Her infectious energy and unmistakable on-air charisma will undoubtedly connect with our audience. Together with Sphectacula and Naves, this fresh lineup brings a new dynamic to the Fast Lane, and we are confident it will captivate listeners across KZN and beyond.”
Versatility is Selby’s superpower. Whether it’s radio, television, acting, voiceovers, or hosting high-profile events—her presence commands attention. Her work in South African television soapies, as well as her appearances at flagship national events, has only solidified her position as one of the country’s most loved and recognisable talents.
“I am excited that Selby is joining us again,” shared Ayanda Melansi, Content Specialist at Gagasi FM. “We started this journey together as young broadcasters. Watching her growth has been inspiring. She’s a true example of the Zulu saying: ‘Amanzi la ake ama khona aphinde ame’
Selby’s comeback isn’t just a return—it’s a celebration of purpose, passion, and progress. Her fearless authenticity, combined with her ability to evolve and uplift, positions her as not just a radio personality but a cultural force.
“Radio has always been home for me,” says Selby. “Gagasi FM played such a formative role in my career, and to be back where it all began—it’s surreal. I’m ready to bring joy, insight, and a little Selbeyonce sparkle to your afternoons!”
