Hollywoodbets Dolphins all-rounder Jon Jon Smuts says he is looking to take his SA 20 form with the bat into the CSA T20 Challenge that is set to kick off this week. The Dolphins will welcome the World Sports Betting Western Province at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on Friday, to kick start their campaign. The Durban side will be looking to bounce back from the dissapointment of failing to reach the CSA 4-day series final after being in pole position going into the final round of pool matches.
Smuts will form part of the experienced heads in the Dolphins team alongside players like captain Keshav Maharaj, Khaya Zondo, Prenalan Subrayan and SJ Erwee. The all-rounder delivered some great performances for the Durban’s Super giants in season two of the Betway SA 20, scoring 298 runs in twelve Innings at an average of 27.09. On his return to the Dolphins he notched up 207 runs in four innings in the 4-day series, which included a brilliant knock of 156 runs in the Dolphins’ ten wickets drubbing of the North West Dragons. Speaking to the Dolphins media team, Smuts says he feels in a really good place with his batting and will be looking to take his SA 20 form into the T20 Challenge.
“I feel in a really good space, after the SA 20 I had two really good 4-day games as well with the bat so hopefully I can keep this momentum and keep the form going,” said Smuts.
“It’s staying in the moment and staying in the present because obviously it’s something you can’t take for granted with such a long competition, and again it’s something I am really looking forward to, it is going to be exciting especially the first three to five games with the lot of international players available before they jett off to the IPL. I think it is going to be some fierce competition and some unbelievable Cricket played.”
