Specialist Raises Importance Of Understanding Reading For Meaning

Education Specialist Nombuso Madlala says it is important to have young South Africans understand and learn in their own language so it can be easy for them to understand what they read or learn.
South Africa is observing Literacy Week, until the 11th of September, while today marks International Literacy Day.
Madlala believes that additional languages can be tough to understand when children struggle to understand their mother tongue.
She adds that it is essential that children are taught to read and understand with meaning.
