A suspect alleged to have recently committed a robbery was shot and fatally wounded in an exchange of gunfire with police in Esikhaleni, KwaZulu-Natal, last night.

According to police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda, the police responded to reports of a robbery in the Ndindima area of Esikhaleni, where the suspects had fled the scene.

The authorities tracked down the suspects and cornered four individuals in the Ncombo area.
