Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a 16-player Proteas Women squad for the tour of the West Indies that will run from 11-23 June. The tour will include a three-match One Day International series (11, 14, 17 June) and a three-match T20 International series from 20-23 June.
South Africa will be boosted by the return of veteran all-rounder Marizanne Kapp who makes a come back after the completion of her structured conditioning block. Seamers Tumi Sekhukhune and Ayanda Hlubi also return to the Proteas squad after missing out of the ODI Tri series matches against Sri Lanka and India. The three returnees replace spinner Seshnie Naidu and left-handed batter Lara Goodall, while all-rounder Maine Smit is set to make her debut in the ODI format after featuring in the T20 squad.
The Proteas Women will use the tour as much needed preparation for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, while the T20 series will be Mandla Mashimbyi’s maiden series in the shortest format after joining the side in December last year.
