South African voters have been warned against digital disinformation as the country prepares for next year’s elections.
The Independent Electoral Commission worries that if left unchecked, it could undermine the credibility of the elections.
There are fears that voters will fall for AI-generated fake videos, depicting the faces and voices of high-profile individuals to drive political agendas.
Electoral officer Mawethu Mosery urges voters to be wary of these scammers.
