The National Prosecuting Authority’s Investigating Directorate Against Corruption has dismissed reports claiming that a warrant of arrest has been issued for National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola.

NPA spokesperson Henry Mamothame stated that the recent media reports alleging otherwise are false and misleading. He reiterated that no such warrant exists and cautioned against the dissemination of misinformation.

“Spreading unverified claims can cause reputational harm and mislead the public,” Mamothame warned.

The statement comes amid speculation in the media regarding ongoing investigations into alleged corruption within the South African Police Service.

While the Investigating Directorate has been actively pursuing several high-profile cases involving law enforcement officials, the NPA emphasised that due legal processes must be followed and that any action taken against individuals will be publicly confirmed when appropriate.
