New Sharks coach John Plumtree has called for patience amoung the Sharks faithful as he begins his second stint at the Shark tank. Plumtree spoke exclusively to Gagasi FM Sports on Thursday, as the franchise unveiled Hollywoodbets as their new title sponsor, replacing Cell C who were in partnership with the Sharks for the past decade. The Durban side announced the return of Plumtree in early May, who has officially began his second stint with the club as they look ahead to some pre-season action.
The Sharks had an underwhelming season in 2022/2023, as they failed to finish in the top eight in the United Rugby Championship and also fell at the Semi final stage of the Carling Currie Cup. Plumtree has been tasked with bringing out the best of the Springbok-laden squad after the investments that have been made in the team. Having coached the Sharks between 2008- 2012 the New Zealander says he is well aware of the expectations that come with coaching in Durban, but has called for patience as he works on improving the squad for next season.
