The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have accused the government of national unity of trying to control both executive and oversight functions, sidelining opposition parties.

With nearly 70% of seats in Parliament, the government’s actions drew criticism from the EFF’s Omphile Maotwe.

She stressed that criticising the executive is a constitutional duty they take seriously.
Maotwe also highlighted that the Progressive Caucus is crucial for strengthening Parliamentary oversight.

Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed critics, whom he refers to as naysayers, stating that members of the Government of National Unity (GNU) are already demonstrating a unity of purpose and commitment to advancing the interests of all South Africans.
