KZN Premier Thami Ntuli is demanding a progress report from the SAPS by the end of today in connection with the murder of a couple in Mandeni in Northern Kwazulu Natal.
Late last night, Bonginkosi Makhoba and Thembani Ngiba were murdered by a group of men who stormed into their Mandeni home and shot the couple in the presence of young children.
According to Makhoba’s uncle, Nkosinathi Shabane, four men stormed into their home last night demanding a person unknown to the family. The altercation resulted in gun shots and the ultimate murder of the two.

On Tuesday morning, Ntuli visited the Makhoba family in Nembe area under the Mandeni local municipality.
The latest shooting has once again raised concerns about gun violence in KZN, where communities continue to grapple with violent crime and the use of firearms in deadly attacks.
KZN Premier Thami Ntuli expressed concern over the growing scourge of gun violence in communities across the province.
“One of our biggest problems is that our communities live with these people who are in possession of illegal firearms and choose not to report them to the police,” said Ntuli while speaking at the family visit.
He continued, “So an illegal firearm is not for self defence but it is to harm. That is while those who have them don’t carry them around but hide them.”
The KZN Premier further commended the Makhoba family for their unwavering bravery for choosing to speak out instead maintaining a cowardly attitude and reserving the incidence as a private family matter.
Ntuli says he will also meet with acting provincial police commissioner Phumelele Makhoba to put pressure on police to speed up the investigation.
Ntuli has previously called for stronger measures to address violent crime and improve policing in communities.
Police are investigating the matter as a possible targeted attack.
