Legendary musician and producer Chicco Twala has spoken out about his son, Longwe Twala, labeling him a drug addict and a thief, but vehemently denying that he is a killer. Chicco made these remarks at the Randburg Magistrates Court during Longwe’s first appearance on housebreaking charges after allegedly breaking into his father’s Fourways studio.

Chicco accused his sons, Longwe and Sello, of stealing recording equipment worth at least R200,000 from his home studio while he was away in the United States. Although Chicco has since dropped the charges against Sello, Longwe continues to face legal trouble. His case has been postponed to September 12 to give him time to secure a legal representative.

Expressing his frustration, Chicco stated that he’s tired of shielding Longwe, who has reportedly been to private rehab facilities over 30 times without success. “I would rather see Longwe rot in jail than have him continue stealing and living on the streets,” Chicco remarked.

Longwe’s troubles extend beyond theft allegations; he has also been implicated in the murder case of Senzo Meyiwa. The defense has accused Longwe of being the gunman who shot and killed the soccer star during a visit to their then-girlfriends’ home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, in 2014.

Chicco, however, has consistently denied his 39-year-old son’s involvement in the murder, accusing the defense of seeking fame and attention with baseless claims rooted in social media speculation rather than facts.
