The newly sworn-in Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, has stated that she will not dismiss teachers who are deemed unfit for their roles.
Gwarube made these remarks during an interview with Primedia, where she discussed the future of basic education.
She emphasised that her primary focus will be on placing the needs of learners at the forefront of all initiatives. This commitment includes addressing the issue of pit latrines and undertaking a comprehensive curriculum review.
Gwarube is one of six DA members appointed to the national unity cabinet, succeeding Angie Motshekga, who served in the position for 13 years.
