Higher Education and Training Minister Nobuhle Nkabane is urging young people to engage themselves in investment in the green economy in South Africa.
She has expressed her concern about the youth not taking advantage of opportunities made available to access the relevant entities and resources to educate and equip themselves about the sector.
Nkabane joined Deputy Minister in Forestry and Environment Narend Singh and EDTEA KZN MEC Musa Zondi at the 10th Green Youth Indaba held at the Durban ICC when she engaged the media on the matter.
The event aims to empower young people to lead, innovate and advocate for a just and sustainable future.
Nkabane speaking on the active participation of the youth in the green sector she says, young lack encouragement to fully immerse themselves in programs that will positively change their lives, especially those such as the Green Youth Indaba.
She explains that the Skills Portfolio has seen the importance of joining hands in such a project to also link it to the G20 presidency by South Africa.
Nkabane adds that events of this nature connects the youth with the right people for the advancement of their careers.
