The Msunduzi Municipality says the revitalisation of the Pietermaritzburg Airport is one of several smart moves aimed at broadening economic development and boosting local investment.
This follows a recent showcase event hosted by the municipality in partnership with key stakeholders, aimed at highlighting the airport’s potential and future role in the city’s economy.
According to acting municipal spokesperson Anele Makhanya, the facelift of the airport is expected to stimulate economic activity and generate enthusiasm across various sectors and surrounding communities.
Makhanya said the bigger picture is for the airport to become an economic injection into the city, helping to position Pietermaritzburg as an investment-friendly destination.
The airport upgrade forms part of Msunduzi’s broader strategy to improve infrastructure, attract investors, and unlock business opportunities across the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
