The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has confirmed that its councillor in Alfred Duma Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal accused of rape has resigned.

The councillor allegedly raped a teenage girl in Zakheni Township over the past weekend.

The IFP says it will allow the law to take its course, adding that it is a party of integrity, and as such, it would never allow a tainted person to remain within their ranks.

Meanwhile, the ANC in the Josiah Gumede region says the allegations levelled against the councillor are disgusting, even more so since it happened during Women’s Month.
