KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has lauded the Government of National Unity (GNU) for its accessibility and responsiveness to the needs of ordinary South Africans.
Premier Ntuli led Members of the Executive Council (MECs) to the King Cetshwayo District Municipality, located in the northern region of KwaZulu-Natal, as part of the Operation Sukuma Sakhe Cabinet Day initiative.
Operation Sukuma Sakhe is a provincial programme designed to foster direct engagement between government leaders and local communities. It provides a platform for citizens to voice their concerns, offer input, and receive real-time feedback on government services and development efforts.
Speaking during the visit, Premier Ntuli emphasised the importance of civic empowerment in a democratic society.
“It is important for citizens to understand that they hold the power. They are, in fact, the bosses of government officials,” he said.
“This government belongs to the people, and initiatives like Operation Sukuma Sakhe ensure that the voices of our communities are not only heard but acted upon.”
The Cabinet Day engagements included service delivery assessments, community dialogues, and site visits to ongoing infrastructure and social development projects.
