The State has confirmed that it has a strong case against Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla in relation to her alleged role in the July 2021 unrest, which led to widespread public violence and destruction across KwaZulu-Natal and parts of Gauteng.
Zuma-Sambudla appeared briefly in the Durban High Court today. She faces charges of incitement to commit terrorism and two counts of incitement to commit public violence.
The charges stem from allegations that she used social media to encourage and fuel the unrest that erupted following the imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma. The violence claimed over 350 lives and caused billions of rands in damage.
During today’s proceedings, the judge certified the matter as trial-ready. The case is set down to be heard between 10 and 21 November 2025 in the Durban High Court.
