DJ Maphorisa has stirred up social media once again, this time defending himself against calls for his cancellation in the entertainment industry. The uproar began when musician Samthing Soweto was left uncredited on their collaboration “Amalanga Awafani,” sparking widespread controversy.

The renowned DJ and producer, known for his involvement in industry conflicts, addressed the issue publicly on Tuesday. Taking to social media, Maphorisa defended himself and fellow artist Mas Musiq, who was also caught up in the fallout.

Maphorisa claimed that Samthing Soweto did not contribute significantly to the song and accused him of bullying Mas Musiq in the process. In his livestream, Maphorisa explained, “It was recorded in my house. He owns the whole master… If you want to cancel someone, cancel me. I’ll bounce back because I believe in myself. But Mas Musiq did nothing wrong. He gave his best effort, and he’s been frustrated because Samthing Soweto doesn’t handle his business well.”

Maphorisa went on to criticize both Samthing Soweto and Amapiano star Sir Trill, suggesting that their difficulties stem from poor business management. “The reason we don’t have a good relationship with him is his attitude and his failure to meet standards,” Maphorisa added. “We have a problem with sharing — he wants to take everything.”

Samthing Soweto has since responded on his social media platforms, expressing his displeasure at the song being released without his knowledge, further fueling the ongoing dispute.
