The DA member of Parliament, Dianne Kohler Barnard, has refuted the allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, against her.
Testifying at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry yesterday, Mkhwanazi claimed Kohler Barnard and National Coloured Congress MP, Fadiel Adams interfered in intelligence operations for political gain.
He accused Kohler Barnard of being involved in a criminal syndicate and using her position to fuel public attacks against the Crime Intelligence Unit.
Kohler Barnard says the allegations are outrageous, defamatory, and baseless.
“One the 17th of February I wrote to the inspector general of Intelligence requesting an investigation into the dubious purchase of two properties by crime intelligence. The joint standing committee on intelligence took a whole year to operationalize, hence it was months that committee was formerly constituted that I wrote to the inspector general of Intelligence. I was not the member of the committee,” says Barnard.
