Education activist Hendrick Makaneta has condemned Operation Dudula’s latest campaign targeting undocumented migrant children at Gauteng schools.
The movement visited several schools in Soweto on Monday, the 22nd of September and delivered notices, warning them against admitting undocumented children in 2026.
The Gauteng Education Department has slammed the group’s stance, emphasising every child’s constitutional right to education.
Makaneta says Operation Dudula’s actions are in direct violation of the Constitution.
“We wish to reiterate that, every child in South Africa has the right to education regardless of their nationality. We therefore support the Gauteng Department of Education for taking the stance against discrimination and we urge them to provide protection for vulnerable learners,” says Makaneta.
