The Economic Freedom Fighter leader Julius Malema has been found guilty on five firearm-related charges in the East London court.
Malema and his former bodyguard, Adriaan Snyman, were accused of firing a rifle at a 2018 rally in Mdantsane at the party’s 5th birthday celebrations.
His bodyguard Adriaan Snyman has been acquitted, they were charged with violating the Firearms Control Act.
The two men were caught on camera firing a rifle at a 2018 EFF rally.
Here is Magistrate Twanet Olivier delivering the judgement.
“Accused 1 in respect of count 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 you are found guilty as charged. Accused 2 Mr Snyman in respect of count 4 and 6, you are found not guilty and discharged,” announced Olivier.
