The Former Head of Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa Lucky Montana has strongly denied that he owes the South African Revenue Service.
In an unprecedented move, SARS held a media briefing at the weekend at which it revealed detailed taxpayer information about Montana and his debt of just over R55 million.
The revenue services stated that it was forced into this move to preserve its integrity after Montana publicly accused the agency of fraud.
Montana says that he is not afraid of taking on SARS.
“Some ask why risk by taking on the mighty SARS. There is no doubt that SARS is a powerful institution and a formidable opponent to take on, however I am not afraid to take on a challenge. This is not about me, this is about the citizens of South Africa who had lost their houses, their vehicles and other assets they have built over the years,” says Montana.
