The Independent Electoral Commission chairperson Mosotho Moepya says vote counting will begin immediately after polls close next Wednesday evening, emphasising that transparency is one of the key factors in delivering fair elections.
More than 23-thousand voting stations will be used across South Africa as over 546 parties and independent candidates are expected to compete on Wednesday.
The IEC has also declared that its national results operation centre in Midrand, Gauteng, is ready.
Moepya says all counting will take place where voting has taken place, and no ballots will be moved outside the voting stations.

“In the presence of observance, party agents, and the media, counting and results determination will indeed unfold.”
He further made a special request to party agents, urging them to not manipulate images of voting slips once counting is completed.
“Party agents and observers have the opportunity to take pictures of the results slips once concluded at the voting stations. We have only one request to make, don’t photoshop them,” said Moepya.
