Masemola Says Not All Police Officers Are Bad

Police Commissioner Fani Masemola has appealed to citizens across the country not to paint all police officers with one brush as he says most of them are doing an excellent job.

Masemola has been answering questions from members of parliament when a team of senior SAPS officials appeared before parliament’s portfolio committee on police.

The team has answered the widespread allegations that the police are using violence and intimidating citizens when carrying out their duties.

This follows the attack on civilians by police officers who work in the VIP protection unit as security detail of deputy president Paul Mashatile.

The members are currently on suspension as their case is being heard in court.

Masemola says not all police officers abuse their powers.
