Members of Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) have voiced serious concerns regarding the Road Accident Fund (RAF) in the wake of a presentation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), which highlighted irregular expenditure and the misuse of public funds at the entity.
The SIU’s findings have caused alarm among some MPs, with one committee member labelling the contents of the report as “unbelievable”.
The report raises significant questions about the RAF’s financial oversight and the handling of public resources.
David Skosana, a representative from the MK Party, has called for the RAF to appear before the committee to address the findings before any further action is taken.
Skosana believes that the committee must fully understand the scope of the issue and hear from the fund itself before deciding on the next steps.
The concerns come as the RAF continues to face pressure over its financial management, with taxpayers demanding greater accountability from state institutions.
