The National Assembly has approved the 2025–2026 Appropriations Bill, marking a critical step in finalising the national budget.

The bill authorises the government to use public funds for various departments and public services, ensuring continued service delivery across the country.

It was passed with 262 Members of Parliament voting in favour and 90 against. Opposition parties including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the MK Party, voted against the bill.

Deputy Finance Minister David Masondo warned that failure to pass the bill would have had devastating consequences for government operations and public service delivery.

The bill will now proceed to the National Council of Provinces for concurrence.
