The World Health Organization says the escalating conflict across Iran and the broader Middle East has killed more than 1,000 people, displaced over 100,000 others and affected at least 16 countries in the region.
Operations at the organisation’s Logistics Hub for Global Health Emergencies in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have been temporarily suspended due to growing security concerns.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says the agency has verified 13 attacks on health infrastructure in Iran and one in Lebanon amid the ongoing military campaign involving the United States and Israel.
The attacks have reportedly killed six healthcare workers and injured at least 25 others.
The WHO has raised concern about the impact of the conflict on healthcare services in the region, warning that damage to hospitals and medical facilities could severely disrupt access to essential care for civilians.
