IFP President Velenkosini Hlabisa has maintained the party’s position in the GNU as the voice of reason.
He has also reiterated the IFP’s stance on the passed 2025 budget, which will see a 0.5% VAT increase for this year, saying they support the fiscal framework.
Last week, 194 members of parliament voted in favour of the proposed budget by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, which includes the IFP, ActionSA, PA, and Rise Mzansi, among others.

Speaking to the media in Durban this afternoon, Hlabisa says fiscal discipline and corruption-free administration are their non-negotiables for the country’s recovery.
