The Limpopo Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs has confirmed that the death toll from the devastating floods has risen to 18.
At least five people remain missing after being swept away by strong river currents during heavy rainfall across parts of the province.
Departmental spokesperson Tsakani Baloyi says conditions on the ground remain dangerous, with rivers still swollen following several days of persistent rain. She has urged residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and avoid crossing flooded roads and bridges.
Emergency services, together with local disaster management teams, continue with search-and-rescue operations, while affected families are receiving assistance. Authorities have also warned that further rainfall could worsen conditions, as Limpopo remains within the summer rainfall season.
Residents are encouraged to heed weather warnings issued by the South African Weather Service and to report emergencies to local authorities.
