KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda has confirmed that the three suspected murderers who were shot and killed during a shootout with police in Amaoti, Inanda, north of Durban, are not connected to the suspects who were killed in Hammersdale last night.

Netshiunda clarified that the two incidents are unrelated, as they occurred in separate communities within their respective areas.

Speaking to the media, he also revealed that a firearm recovered at the scene in Amaoti has been linked to over 20 murders in and around KwaZulu-Natal.

He stated that officers had acted on intelligence regarding the suspects, one of whom was reportedly a local gang leader and all of whom were believed to be connected to multiple murders.
