ANC Chief Whip in Parliament Mdumiseni Ntuli has reiterated that illegal immigration must be addressed through the rule of law and effective state enforcement.
Ntuli was speaking during the Presidency’s Budget Vote debate in the National Assembly for the 2026/27 financial year.
The budget outlines the Presidency’s role in coordinating government departments and state entities to improve the delivery of government’s key national priorities and strengthen service delivery.
Responding to recent anti-illegal immigration marches held across the country, Ntuli said concerns around undocumented migration should be addressed through lawful processes and the effective implementation of existing legislation.
He stressed that government has a responsibility to enforce immigration laws while ensuring that constitutional principles and human rights are upheld. Ntuli also emphasised the need for state institutions to play their role in managing migration and maintaining public confidence in the country’s legal framework.
