President Cyril Ramaphosa is on a two-day state visit to Brazil, where he will engage with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on a broad range of bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
The visit aims to strengthen political, trade and investment ties between the two countries, with Brazil regarded as a key partner for South Africa’s engagement with Latin America.
Bilateral trade between the two countries reached R32.5 billion in 2025, with South African exports amounting to R5.2 billion and imports from Brazil totalling approximately R27.3 billion.
The Presidency says that during the visit, Ramaphosa will address a South Africa–Brazil Business Forum aimed at promoting greater commercial cooperation.
He will also engage with Brazilian business leaders to accelerate investment and explore new opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, energy and mining.
South Africa and Brazil are both members of BRICS and the G20, and the leaders are also expected to discuss cooperation on global issues.
