President Cyril Ramaphosa has reiterated his concern about the renewed conflict in the Middle East.
The conflict, now in its second week, has continued to escalate, with fresh Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, United States bases across the region, and energy infrastructure in Gulf states. The latest exchanges have raised fears of a broader regional war and renewed volatility in global oil markets.
Speaking during his state visit to Brazil, Ramaphosa urged all parties involved to cease hostilities and return to the negotiation table immediately. He said South Africa supports diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation and restoring stability in the region.
The South African government has consistently called for restraint and dialogue amid tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States, warning that continued military exchanges risk destabilising the wider Middle East and disrupting global trade and energy supply routes.
Officials say South Africa is monitoring developments closely through its diplomatic missions in the region.
